I have not been around here in a while. Need to spend more time putting stuff up.
New piece: “To the Water” is now up over at The Nervous Breakdown.
There’s a lot of progress on the novel being made, though I find myself to be nostalgic lately for the short story, for the form and the narrative and the tight plotting the story creates. What is it about the short story that seems so…romantic? How do I balance writing a novel and trying to maintain dedication to writing and publishing short stories? Ben Percy seems to do it pretty damn well, all while teaching at Iowa State and traveling all around the country.
Revision time, time to cut away at this thing with an axe.
